Processing on the XL650 to having a Clean Case with new Primer. The T7 has three (3) stations set-up to: Load 6.2gr of Trail Boss, Set 200gr SWC then Crimp Case. 

Sometimes It's the SIMPLE things:

No more searching for the designated Shell Plate, .. as used on Redding T-7.

Redding T-7; Primer Tube Loading Option & Results

Single stage presses and some turret presses have a myriad of solutions to load primers. Many of these solutions fall short offering a “hand-load” single primer option.  I’m not a fan of handling primers even using surgical gloves.

The T-7 comes with a single hand loaded primer solution. An upgrade to a Primer Tube Feed option is a fair attempt.  This upgrade has a substantial down side, the closeness of the feeder tube to the Die Turret precludes the use of a number of Powder Measures.

 

There are some that work and require the purchase of same.  I have both Dillon and Lee Auto Drum powder dispensers.  Yes both of these overhang the Die Turret Plate and collide with the Primer Tube option. Fortunately, with  assiduity and canny orientation of said Lee Auto Drum provides about an “RCH” of clearance. Bottom Line: after some time I have pulled this option from my press and re-installed the original single feed bar.

I simply cannot recommend this system.

45 Long Colt set-up on the Redding T7

Utilizing the T7’s die holding capacity I set up a separate Neck Flaring station.

1) Full Length Size and De-Cap .. Lee Deluxe Die 

    1a) Prime .. Winchester Large Primers

2) Neck Flare** .. Lyman M Die

3) Powder Charge .. Lee Auto Drum Powder Measure

4) Bullet Seat .. Lee Deluxe Die

5) Neck Crimp .. Lee Deluxe Die

**Neck Flaring: I have a few choices, this time I’ll use the Lyman M Die. Note: M Dies are caliber specific vs the Lee Universal Die. My M Die is set-up in the press, the Lee pictured below.  Which is best? Always fodder for discussion. In general the machine finish is superior on the Lee, Lyman offers caliber specific neck sizing along with neck flare. With Lee you buy ONE Die, Lyman its One Die Per Caliber .. $ vs $$$$$$$$.

38 Special Loading with Trail Boss

Small quantity (90 rounds) Set-Up on the T7 with Dillon Dies and Powder Measure.  Trying the Dillon Powder Measure dispensing Trail Boss.  125 grain Flat Point with 4.1 grains of Trail Boss.Dillon 38/357 Pistol Die Set: Re-Size/De-Prime,  Powder Measure with included Flaring funnel, Bullet Seating then Crimp.  T7 Primer seating,after Pocket cleaning.This turned out to be a nice set-up: Dillon Die Set on the Redding T7. The powder measure was flawless in drop and the dual return springs (old style) worked a treat.  Good case fill and light crimp. All done, rounds ready for a test drive .. probably Monday.

Overall Length is set .. Redding T7 press and Lee Deluxe 45 Colt Die set.Here we have a Max OAL of 1.600” .. on these Copper Plated 200gr. SWC.  I set a couple of thou under .. 1.598”

Brass Re-Sizing .. A tool from Lee Precision

Lee Bulge Buster Kit  … This push through die adapter will remove the bulge rings that shell holder constrained dies simply can't reach. The Bulge Buster Kit includes:  extension sleeve, push through punch, catch container and complete instructions. Works with these rimless cases:  380 ACP, 10mm, 40 S&W, (357 Sig) 41 AE, 45 ACP, 45 GAP, and 45 Win Mag.  Supplier:  MIDWAY .. $15.79 .. Use as directed in combination with Lee Factory Crimp Die. (cutaway view shows a 38 Special Rimmed Cartridge, not a push through)

NOTE: Lee Factory 40 S&W Crimp Die is now with Bulge Buster Kit. Ready for use. USED for: 357 Sig Range Brass fired from a Glock

NOTE:  9mm cases are not able to be used in the Bulge Buster because it has a slightly tapered case and the rim is not completely flush with the case.  See how I manage Re-Sizing 9mm in Previous Post.

I’ve set this die in my Redding T-7 Turret Press .. Although not designated for the 357 SIG case. It can be used to Re-Size / De-Bulge, the Main Body as it is same dimensions as the 40 S&W,  OD: 10.77mm or 0.424”
