 Nice having a "precision" method of establishing Fence Position...Blocks: Oiled and Dry...

First & Second Bases; checking prior to glue-up .. one in standard drill press 4" vice, one in a precision toolmakers 3" vice Toolmakers vice .. all very good.

Gule-Up #1 .. so far so good .. NOT GOOD... I RE-Glued this base.. sides not lined up with base .. parrell and square but not flat with base.. 2nd try in glue up

Glue-Up #2 setting up .. NOTE double check sides are square & parallel in the drill press vice.

Tuesday: Block Drilling .. 20 new blocks and Re-Drill 10 Blocks to new Dia and Depth....

 "Old School .. 1970 the 1st. METRIC REVISION"... " A UK Machine Shop / Tool Room / Engineering Standard" First Metric item in our area was Lumber from the Nordic Countries..Driving carpenters crazy .. ( multiply by 2.54 or divide by 2.54)

Block 1 of 20: First Hole .. LETTER "B" Drill .. 0.238" Clamps set at Left / Right margins....Block 1 Top Row of 5 holes done !! Pre set spacers used to position middle 3 holes.       

20 new blocks Drilled ... Next; Sand and Oil Finish. The Boxes: Bases and Lids will be next.. 4 new boxes planned, Oak bases and Lids, Walnut Edging for Bases .. an interesting combination.

Monday: Part Two .. Blocks; Drilling Fixture and set-up

Managed a 21 Block yield from the Poplar board: 20+ a set-up block. Fixture presents the 20 degree face at the Horizontal for Drilling .. Clamps and spacers line up block for drilling- note: change to Letter "B" 0.238" .004" larger in Dia. Drill to max depth .. .075" deeper. : Station #1Station #2 .. left hand spacer used for offsetStation #3 .. Right hand double spacer used for offsetStation #4 .. Right hand spacer used for offset .. Station #5 is block against Right Hand clamp.

Set-Up Ready to Rip Cut a WARPED Poplar board - Monday UPDATE

Out feed runners: Feather Board and Squeeze held to Fence

Ready to rip a 6" board fromWarped 12" board (a Monday job) .. No problem Ripping the board with this set up .. Low Yield, 6" board still had warp, trimmed to 3" that gave the only useable section ....

12" x 3/4" Poplar board: Major Warpage .. Yielded one 3" wide board. Even a 1" wide board had a Twist ..... so I have one board to make 22LR Blocks .

 Both boxes complete and loaded. Walnut works well and a finish of Danish Oil looks very good... 5 blocks, 10 rounds per.Closed Box with block in the ready positionExperimental Block; made from High Density Foam ... works well weighs VERY little.....

 Tuesday evening, Boxes fitted with Hinges and Latches; Leaving the Finish to Dry/Cure same for the 10 Insert Blocks.Closed box with a Block in the ready position.

Mid-day Tuesday: bench cleaned up. 2 Boxes and 10 Insert Blocks drying, Danish Oil. Hinges fitted, then disassembled for finishing. Next reassembly and fit latches, great progress today.

 Monday; Overview of my morning bench.. as I left it last night  Box 1 loaded with 5 blocks,spacer and a 6th block to check fit.

Overview: using a Letter A drill .. two rows of 5, top & lower rows have an offset. Surface at 20 degrees from top face ... Improved presentation of rounds .. lower row sit higher than top row.
